M25 and Barges

Image
So we are off, A12, M25 M5 go for it, the same size as an HGV, scary but we survived.  Recovering a lovely canal-side campsite at Devizes in Wiltshire. Walks by the canal and drink in a pub watching the barges, sadly all experienced sailors as we were hoping to see some fall off and take a swim in the canal, the only thing that nearly went in was Buffy and Helen.  Even the lock action was boring as they were all too good to cock it up.

The Big Erection

Image
Note the new tow vehicle as a result of diesel price  Well, if you are new to caravaning & have never erected a caravan awning it is probably best not to start on a 7 meter wide one ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Also a good tip would be to read the instructions and open up the awning and do the recommended prep before the day of erection. So the day we got to Sizewell we opened up the awning bags to be faced with all sorts of poles, bits of plastic and a lot of canvas. The instructions included a diagram which looked like a map of the London underground. Not a clue! Luckily for us, Bob the site warden at Sizewell was our saviour who not only showed us the mysteries of caravan awning erection but helped us put it up. Thanks Bob you're a hero๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ™ We have now, thanks to Bob, sussed the awning thing and with the use of coloured tape were able to get it up (yes it's an age thing ๐Ÿ˜‚ ) without issue the second time around.

No going back now

The last few weeks have been really busy. We have both now left our old jobs, said good bye to old colleagues and packed up our life to fit in a caravan.  There have been a lot of dump runs.  We have been living in Bill since Saturday 26 March whilst we cleared & cleaned the house.  Bill is currently at Sizewell Campsite and yes just as we give the keys to house into the estate agents the snow started to fall ☃☃☃ Let it snow, let it snow That is better, sunshine, I won't mention the storm force winds So, get a jigsaw puzzle and take a few pieces out, chuck it in the air and then put it back together without the picture... that is what it is like to sort vehicle sales, purchase, house rental, moving jobs and sorting out the house in a limited time scale.  The calendar has had full use and the brain is overloaded with logistics .. Phew

Bye Bye Bogey Van

Image
Bye Bye Bogey We decided after much deliberation that the Bogey Van had to go. He wasn't really suitable for pulling Bill Bailey (the caravan) and he wasn't really going to get much use in our new life. So we had our last trip in him to the Hartford Camping & Caravan Club Site over the weekend of 19 & 20 March.  Don't worry Bogey  has gone to a good home so give him a wave if you see him on the road. Hello Big O Meet the new addition to the gang, Big O, a 3.2 litre work horse which tows Bill with no effort at all. Note that Helen has already added the Rossi stickers๐Ÿ˜œ
